Bea and Freya are two friends who love to read romance and chat about it. We focus on emotional intimacy between characters… what works and what doesn’t? We also don’t shy away from the spice. It’s a form of intimacy that exists in our world and can add a textural layer to our reading and discussion.

How often do you post episodes?
We do our best to read at least one book, record, edit and upload one episode per week.
Do you always record episodes on books?
We have become increasingly interested in the romance genre and how it shifts and plays out across multiple platforms— film, TV, relationship trends, psychology, and even fashion. We have branched out a bit and wouldn’t be surprised if we continue to do more of it in the future.
Why romance?
Romance is the highest-grossing fiction genre, yet is still dismissed as a less intelligent form of reading. We take our fun seriously, and romance reading for us is fun! It is a way to explore relationships, desire, personal growth and wish fulfillment through literary art forms. Humans need relationships. Reading about romance is just one way to discover what you want, what you don’t want, and even what you believe is possible. Women’s desires have historically been pushed aside. Romance as a genre has primarily been women writing for women. We view enjoying it as one form of female celebration, though we also recognize that romance can offer something for everyone.
